Dr. Ramdayaloo Sharma

Dr. Ramdayaloo Sharma

He was an ayurvedic doctor and a physician for many renowned people including the British. He started a pharmacy which was later run by his children. This is a very unusual portrait of him at a young age and without a turban. It was taken by Baker who established a studio in Calcutta in 1857. The portrait is preserved beneath a convex glass mounted in oval gold frame, with calligraphic inscription under it.
