Portrait of a Parsi Lady

This is the process of forming a permanent image on ceramic surfaces. The image formed by a pigmented process is transferred on to the ceramic plate. On firing in a kiln, the gelatine is burnt and evaporates leaving the pigments fused on the plate and thus forming a permanent image.
