Maharaja Ranbir Singh (1830 – 1885)
Son of Maharaja Gulab Singh. He was a well known and reputed scholar of classical Persian and learned English, Sanskrit and Pashtu. During his reign, the trans Himalayan regions of Gilgit, Hunzanagar and Astore were conquered.
