He was the eldest son of Sir Jamsetjee Jejeebhoy. Hailing from a privileged family, he had good English education and also continued his loyalty to the British. His service was recognized and he was nominated as the Star of India, as well as appointed to the Legislative Councils of Calcutta and Bombay.
