From 1700 until 1708, after the death of her husband Chhatrapati Rajaram Bhonsle, Shivaji’s daughter-in-law, Tarabai Bhonsle (born Mohite) became the regent of the Maratha Empire until her son took over the empire. She is famous for her role in supporting the resistance against the Mughal occupation of Maratha territories.
