The Indian Portrait X: Visions of a Bygone Era 1590 – 1890

The tenth exhibition of portraits from the series showcases classical paintings from all across India, displaying the virtuosity and diversity of our painters. The exhibition will cover 300 years, from 1590-1890, and a vast geographic region from Jammu to Thanjavur, allowing viewers to compare how different patrons wished to be remembered and observe how historical events shaped India’s painting traditions.
