Poona Photographic Company Album
The selection of portraits have been taken from an album published by the Poona Photographic Company. The album contains 500 different photo portraits of various royalty and wellknown personalities of India during that time. It is a way to softly acknowledge the supremacy of the British, by depicting Queen Victoria in the center, surrounded by twelve eminent men of the society.

Parsis were such an intrinsic part of the Indian economy that the album documents portraits of around 50 Parsi gentleman. Such intricate photographic albums were created to celebrate extraordinary people of the society and also to be made available as a collector’s edition to the select few with a taste in art and culture.
